Why do German customers need separate preparation?
Selling online in Germany is subject to different rules than in Türkiye. How seller information must be provided, how prices are displayed, what the order button says and what an invoice must contain are all set by law.
Going through this list from start to finish before you go live reduces the need for corrections later.
Note: This article is a general preparation checklist and is not a substitute for legal advice. Prepare your legal texts with a lawyer. If you will ship from Türkiye, also clarify your customs and German VAT obligations with a tax advisor.
Legal pages
The main legal pages of a German store:
- Impressum: the legal notice that shows who the seller is and how to reach them.
- AGB: your general terms and conditions of sale.
- Widerruf: information on the right of withdrawal and a model withdrawal form.
- Datenschutz: the privacy policy.
- Versand und Zahlung: shipping and payment information.
In Roifex, when your store's country is Germany, the framework of these pages comes ready-made. You and your lawyer complete the texts.
Price display
- Next to the price, a note states that VAT is included and that shipping is added separately: inkl. MwSt., zzgl. Versandkosten.
- For products sold by weight, volume, length or area, a unit price is shown (for example, the price per 1 kg).
- When you announce a discount on a product, the lowest price of the last 30 days before the discount is also stated.
In a German store, Roifex automatically shows these notes, the unit price and the lowest price of the last 30 days on the product page.
Checkout step
The button that completes the order clearly states the obligation to pay: Zahlungspflichtig bestellen. A summary of the order appears directly above the button.
Choose your payment methods by country as well. Cash on delivery is offered only in Türkiye. You can enable PayPal for your German customers; payment is collected in the currency the customer sees.
Language, currency and address
- Open your store in German. AI completes missing translations, and you review them.
- Show prices in euros: prices are converted at the daily exchange rate, or you enter a euro price directly for the product.
- The address form adapts to the country; for Germany, the postal code and city are requested.
Invoices and VAT
- For a German store, invoices are prepared in Roifex; there is no need for separate software.
- The VAT on shipping and payment fees is split according to the rates of the products in the cart.
- If you qualify as a small business (§ 19 UStG), you turn this option on; the invoice then shows a small business note instead of VAT.
- The AGB and the withdrawal information are attached to the order confirmation email.
Final check before going live
- The Impressum, AGB, Widerruf and Datenschutz texts have been completed with your lawyer.
- Price notes and unit prices are visible on the product pages.
- The German translations have been reviewed.
- Shipping options and fees for Germany have been set up.
- The checkout step and the invoice have been checked with a test order.
